A shadow |
A trace |
A memory |
Watching, looking, seeing. Sun’s out. Shadows all around. Move quickly, draw, trace, capture….a moment in time. Laughing, talking, hurrying… sitting, watching, lazing. Sun’s gone, rain is coming. Hurry, think, save…..cardboard shadows,…….relax. |

This work is the result of a project brief given in the summer term of year 1 of my BA, on location at Trinity Bouy Wharf and was carried out in collaboration with art student Georgia Howard. The project week started off bright and sunny, great weather to play with the light. Georgia was interested in the sounds of the site and I in the people and how they moved about it, watching, listening, we began to expand our focus to what they left behind as they all scurried along about their business - we concentrated on their shadows. As the weather deteriorated and time ran low (only 3 days) we had to think on our feet as to how to salvage our traces and work indoors... the recycling bins were abundant with cardboard boxes, the result, a memory. |

| I want to thank Sarah Cole (Tutor) for her understanding at a difficult time for me, and to Georgia Howard, my fellow collabotator, who was a pleasure to work with and a new found friend | ||
